PārājikakaṇḍaCatutthapārājikasikkhāpada

Vinayapiṭaka · Bhikkhu Vibhaṅga (1) · Vol. 1 · Section 294

[294] Now at that time, a number of bhikkhus, having made an agreement, entered upon the rains residence (vassa) in a certain dwelling, saying: "Whoever departs first from this dwelling, we shall know him as an arahant." A certain bhikkhu, thinking, "Let them know me as an arahant," departed first from that dwelling. He was remorseful, thinking: "Could it be that I have committed an offense (āpatti) of pārājika?" He reported the matter to the Blessed One. "Bhikkhu, you have committed an offense of pārājika."
