[527] A site entailing harm (sārambha) means: it is an abode of ants, or an abode of termites, or an abode of rats, or an abode of snakes, or an abode of scorpions, or an abode of centipedes, or an abode of elephants, or an abode of horses, or an abode of tigers, or an abode of leopards, or an abode of bears, or an abode of hyenas, or an abode of whatever living creatures classed as animals there may be; or it is adjacent to a field of grain, or adjacent to a field of pulses and vegetables, or adjacent to a place of execution, or adjacent to a place of slaughter, or adjacent to a charnel ground, or adjacent to a pleasure garden, or adjacent to royal property, or adjacent to an elephant stable, or adjacent to a horse stable, or adjacent to a prison, or adjacent to a tavern, or adjacent to a slaughterhouse, or adjacent to a street, or adjacent to a crossroads, or adjacent to an assembly hall, or adjacent to a thoroughfare — this is called a site entailing harm.
