[159] "Well then, brahmin, you yourself divide the bodily relics of the Blessed One into eight equal, well-apportioned shares." "So be it, sirs; so be it, sirs," the brahmin Doṇa assented to those communities and companies, and having divided the bodily relics of the Blessed One into eight equal, well-apportioned shares, he said this to those communities and companies: "Sirs, let the worthy ones give me this measuring vessel (tumba); I too shall make a stūpa (thūpa) for the vessel and hold a festival for it." They gave the measuring vessel to the brahmin Doṇa.
