[160] The Moriyas of Pipphalivana heard: "The Blessed One, it is said, has attained final Nibbāna at Kusinārā." Then the Moriyas of Pipphalivana sent an envoy to the Mallas of Kusinārā, saying: "The Blessed One was a khattiya, and we too are khattiyas. We too deserve a share of the relics (sarīra) of the Blessed One; we too will make a stūpa for the relics of the Blessed One and hold a festival." (The Mallas replied:) "There is no share of the relics of the Blessed One remaining; the relics of the Blessed One have been distributed. Take the embers from here." And they took the embers from there.
