[170] Furthermore, Ānanda, the commander-treasure (pariṇāyakaratana) appeared to King Mahāsudassana — wise, competent, intelligent, capable of leading King Mahāsudassana to advance to what should be advanced to, to withdraw from what should be withdrawn from, and to halt where halting was due. He approached King Mahāsudassana and said: 'May you be untroubled, sire. I shall issue instructions.' Such, Ānanda, was the commander-treasure that appeared to King Mahāsudassana. King Mahāsudassana, Ānanda, was endowed with these seven treasures.
