[181] "Ānanda, King Mahāsudassana had eighty-four thousand cities, with the royal capital Kusāvatī foremost; he had eighty-four thousand palaces, with the Dhamma Palace (Dhammapāsāda) foremost; he had eighty-four thousand peaked chambers, with the Mahāviyūha peaked chamber foremost; he had eighty-four thousand couches — made of gold, made of silver, made of ivory, made of cat's-eye gem (masāragalla) — spread with long-fleeced woollen covers, spread with white woollen cloth, spread with flower-embroidered coverlets, laid with choice spreads of kadali-deer hide, with canopies above and red pillows at both ends; he had eighty-four thousand elephants, with golden ornaments and golden banners, covered with netting of gold, with the royal elephant Uposatha foremost; he had eighty-four thousand horses, with golden ornaments and golden banners, covered with netting of gold, with the royal horse Valāhaka foremost; he had eighty-four thousand chariots — upholstered with lion hide, upholstered with tiger hide, upholstered with leopard hide, upholstered with pale-yellow woollen cloth — with golden ornaments and golden banners, covered with netting of gold, with the chariot Vejayanta foremost; he had eighty-four thousand jewels, with the jewel-treasure foremost; he had eighty-four thousand women, with Queen Subhaddā foremost; he had eighty-four thousand householders, with the householder-treasure foremost; he had eighty-four thousand khattiyas, his vassals, with the commander-treasure foremost; he had eighty-four thousand milch cows, streaming with milk at the milking, with bronze milk-pails; he had eighty-four thousand koṭis of cloths — of fine linen, of fine cotton, of fine silk, of fine wool. Ānanda, King Mahāsudassana had eighty-four thousand offerings of cooked rice (thālipāka); an offering of food was presented to him morning and evening."
