[198] That, venerable sir, is the matter on which Brahmā Sanaṅkumāra spoke. And, venerable sir, as Brahmā Sanaṅkumāra was speaking on this matter, his voice was endowed with eight factors: it was fluent, intelligible, sweet, pleasant to hear, compact, undiffused, deep, and resonant. And, venerable sir, Brahmā Sanaṅkumāra makes the assembly understand by means of his voice only so far as the assembly extends, but the sound does not issue beyond the assembly. Venerable sir, one whose voice is endowed with eight factors in this way is said to have the voice of Brahmā (brahmassara). Then, venerable sir, Brahmā Sanaṅkumāra, having created thirty-three bodily forms (attabhāva), sat down upon the couch of each one of the Tāvatiṃsa gods and addressed the Tāvatiṃsa gods: "What do the good Tāvatiṃsa gods think of this? Inasmuch as this Blessed One has practiced for the welfare of the many, for the happiness of the many, out of compassion for the world, for the good, the welfare, and the happiness of gods and humans — for whoever, sirs, have gone to the Buddha for refuge, gone to the Dhamma for refuge, gone to the Saṅgha for refuge, and are fulfillers of virtue, they, upon the breaking up of the body, after death, some are reborn in the company of the Paranimmitavasavattī gods; some are reborn in the company of the Nimmānaratī gods; some are reborn in the company of the Tusita gods; some are reborn in the company of the Yāma gods; some are reborn in the company of the Tāvatiṃsa gods; some are reborn in the company of the gods of the Four Great Kings (Cātummahārājikā). And those who fill up the lowest company of all — they fill up the company of the gandhabbas."
