[74] "Bhikkhus, I shall teach you seven further principles of non-decline (aparihāniyā dhammā). Listen to it, attend well, and I shall speak." "Yes, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said this: "Bhikkhus, so long as the bhikkhus develop the perception (saññā) of impermanence … develop the perception of non-self; develop the perception of foulness (asubha); develop the perception of danger (ādīnava); develop the perception of abandoning (pahāna); develop the perception of fading away (virāga); develop the perception of cessation—so long, bhikkhus, only growth may be expected for the bhikkhus, not decline.
Bhikkhus, so long as these seven principles of non-decline stand among the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus are seen conforming to these seven principles of non-decline, only growth, bhikkhus, may be expected for the bhikkhus, not decline."
