[73] Bhikkhus, I will teach you another seven principles of non-decline (aparihāniyā dhammā). Listen to it and attend carefully; I will speak." "Yes, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One. The Blessed One said this: "Bhikkhus, as long as the bhikkhus develop the awakening factor (bojjhaṅga) of mindfulness (sati) … develop the awakening factor of investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya); develop the awakening factor of energy (vīriya); develop the awakening factor of rapture (pīti); develop the awakening factor of tranquility (passaddhi); develop the awakening factor of concentration (samādhi); develop the awakening factor of equanimity (upekkhā) — only growth is to be expected for the bhikkhus, not decline. And, bhikkhus, as long as these seven principles of non-decline stand among the bhikkhus, and the bhikkhus are seen conforming to these seven principles of non-decline, only growth is to be expected for the bhikkhus, not decline.
