[106] Cunda, at present I have senior bhikkhu (bhikkhu) disciples who are competent, well trained, confident, who have attained security from the yoke (yogakkhema), able to expound the true Dhamma rightly, and able—having well and legitimately refuted, in accordance with the Dhamma, an opposing doctrine that has arisen—to teach the Dhamma with its demonstrable basis (sappāṭihāriya). Cunda, at present¹ I have bhikkhu disciples of middle standing. Cunda, at present I have newly ordained bhikkhu disciples. Cunda, at present I have senior bhikkhunī disciples. Cunda, at present I have bhikkhunī disciples of middle standing. Cunda, at present I have newly ordained bhikkhunī disciples. Cunda, at present I have layman disciples—householders clothed in white—who live the holy life (brahmacariya). Cunda, at present I have layman disciples—householders clothed in white—who enjoy sensual pleasures. … Cunda, at present I have laywoman disciples—householders clothed in white—who enjoy sensual pleasures. And at present, Cunda, my holy life is successful and prosperous, extensive, known to many, become widespread, well proclaimed as far as gods and humans extend.
