[141] Having done and practiced giving (dāna)
and beneficial conduct (atthacariyā),
kindly speech (piyavadatā) and equality of aspiration (samānachanda),
as an excellent support (susaṅgaha) for many people,
he goes to heaven by virtue not despised.
Having passed away and come back here again,
he obtains — a young child, most delicately tender —
the tenderness of hands and feet, together with their netted lines (jālin),
exceedingly lovely, graceful, and fair to behold.
His retinue becomes compliant to his will;
dwelling upon this earth, he holds them well in kind support;
speaking kindly, seeking their welfare and happiness,
he practices the virtues in which he greatly delights.
But if he abandons the enjoyment of all sensual pleasures
and, as the Victor (jina), speaks talk on the Dhamma to the people,
then, responding to his word, filled with confidence,
having heard, they practice the Dhamma in accordance with the Dhamma (dhammānudhamma).
