[190] "Householder's son, an enemy disguised as a friend (mittappaṭirūpaka) who is a companion in ruin should be recognized on four grounds: he is a companion in indulging in liquors — fermented and distilled intoxicants — which are a basis for heedlessness (surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhāna); he is a companion in roaming the streets at untimely hours; he is a companion in frequenting shows and festivals; he is a companion in indulging in gambling, which is a basis for heedlessness. Householder's son, an enemy disguised as a friend who is a companion in ruin should be recognized on these four grounds."
Thus spoke the Blessed One. Having said this, the Sublime One (sugata), the Teacher, further said this:
