[196] "Householder's son, a sympathetic friend, one who is good-hearted (suhada), should be recognized on four grounds: he does not delight in your misfortune; he delights in your good fortune; he restrains one who speaks dispraise of you; he commends one who speaks praise of you. On these four grounds, householder's son, a sympathetic friend should be recognized as one who is good-hearted."
This is what the Blessed One said. Having said this, the Sugata, the Teacher, further said this:
