[209] Homage to Vipassī, possessed of vision, glorious;
homage too to Sikhī, compassionate toward all beings.
Homage to Vessabhū, the cleansed one, ardent in austerity;
homage to Kakusandha, crusher of Māra's army.
Homage to Koṇāgamana, the brahmin who has lived the holy life;
homage to Kassapa, everywhere fully released.
Homage to Aṅgīrasa, the glorious son of the Sakyans,
who taught this Dhamma that dispels all suffering (dukkha).
And those in the world who are quenched,
having seen with insight as it really is—
those people, free from divisive speech,
great ones rid of timidity,
revere Gotama, the benefactor of gods and humans,
accomplished in true knowledge (vijjā) and conduct,
a great one rid of timidity.
From where the sun rises—
Ādicca, with its mighty orb—
and as it rises,
the night too comes to an end;
and when the sun has risen,
it is called "day"—
there also is a deep lake,
an ocean of flowing waters.
Thus they know it there:
"an ocean of flowing waters."
