[427] What six dhammas partake of distinction? Six kinds of reverence (gārava). Here, friends, a bhikkhu dwells with reverence and deference (sagāravo sappatisso) toward the Teacher; he dwells with reverence and deference toward the Dhamma; toward the Saṅgha …; toward the training …; toward diligence (appamāda) …; he dwells with reverence and deference toward hospitality (paṭisanthāra). These six dhammas partake of distinction.
