Suttapiṭaka · Dīghanikāya · Pāthikavagga · Vol. 11 · Section 455

[455] What nine things (dhammas) are of great assistance? The nine things rooted in wise attention (yoniso manasikāra): for one attending wisely, gladness (pāmojja) arises; for one who is gladdened, rapture (pīti) arises; for one whose mind is filled with rapture, the body becomes tranquil; one whose body is tranquil feels happiness (sukha); for one who is happy, the mind (citta) becomes concentrated; one whose mind is concentrated knows and sees as it really is (yathābhūta); knowing and seeing as it really is, one of oneself becomes disenchanted; being disenchanted, one becomes dispassionate; through dispassion, one is liberated. These nine things are of great assistance.
