[456] What nine things should be developed? Nine factors of endeavor for purity (pārisuddhipadhāniyaṅga): purification of virtue (sīlavisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification of mind (citta) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification of view (diṭṭhivisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification by the crossing over of doubt (kaṅkhāvitaraṇavisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification by knowledge (ñāṇa) and vision of what is the path and what is not the path (maggāmaggañāṇadassanavisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification by knowledge and vision of the way of practice (paṭipadāñāṇadassanavisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification by knowledge and vision (ñāṇadassanavisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification of wisdom (paññāvisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity; purification of liberation (vimuttivisuddhi) is a factor of endeavor for purity. These nine things should be developed.
