[75] And moreover, venerable sir, this is unsurpassable: the way the Blessed One teaches the Dhamma with regard to wholesome dhammas. Herein are these wholesome dhammas, namely: the four establishments of mindfulness (satipaṭṭhāna), the four right strivings (sammappadhāna), the four bases of psychic power (iddhipāda), the five faculties (indriya), the five powers (bala), the seven factors of awakening (bojjhaṅga), and the Noble Eightfold Path. Here, venerable sir, a bhikkhu, through the destruction of the taints (āsava), having realized for himself with direct knowledge (abhiññā), in this very life, the taintless liberation of mind (cetovimutti) and liberation by wisdom (paññāvimutti), enters upon and dwells in it. This, venerable sir, is unsurpassable with regard to wholesome dhammas. The Blessed One directly knows that without remainder; and for the Blessed One who directly knows that without remainder, there is nothing further to be directly known, by knowing which any other ascetic or brahmin could be of greater direct knowledge than the Blessed One, that is, with regard to wholesome dhammas.
