[83] And moreover, venerable sir, this is unsurpassed: the way the Blessed One teaches the Dhamma with regard to conduct in speech (bhassasamācāra). Here, venerable sir, a certain person does not utter speech connected with false speech (musāvāda), nor speech that is divisive and slanderous, nor speech born of contentiousness, seeking victory; he speaks only speech weighed with wisdom, worth treasuring, at the proper time. This, venerable sir, is unsurpassed with regard to conduct in speech.
