[200] Bhikkhus, whatever ascetics or brahmins do not understand as it really is (yathābhūta) the gratification of sensual pleasures as gratification, the drawback of sensual pleasures as drawback, and the escape from sensual pleasures as escape in this way — that they themselves will fully understand sensual pleasures, or that they will encourage another so that, practicing accordingly, he will fully understand sensual pleasures: this is impossible. But, bhikkhus, whatever ascetics or brahmins do understand as it really is the gratification of sensual pleasures as gratification, the drawback of sensual pleasures as drawback, and the escape from sensual pleasures as escape in this way — that they themselves will fully understand sensual pleasures, or that they will encourage another so that, practicing accordingly, he will fully understand sensual pleasures: this is possible.
