[313] Then the Blessed One, knowing that the talk had come to its end, cleared his throat and knocked on the door-bar. Those bhikkhus opened the door for the Blessed One. Then the Blessed One, having entered the hermitage of the brahmin Rammaka, sat down on the seat prepared. Having sat down, the Blessed One addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, for what talk are you sitting together here just now? And what was your talk that was left unfinished?"
"Venerable sir, it was a talk on the Dhamma concerning the Blessed One himself that was left unfinished by us; then the Blessed One arrived."
"Good, bhikkhus. It is fitting for you, sons of good families who have gone forth out of faith from the home life into homelessness, that you should sit together for talk on the Dhamma. Bhikkhus, when you have gathered together, there are two things to be done: either talk on the Dhamma or noble silence.
"Bhikkhus, there are these two quests (pariyesanā): the ignoble quest and the noble quest."
