[373] When this was said, the Venerable Sāriputta said to the Venerable Mahākassapa: "Friend Kassapa, the Venerable Anuruddha has answered according to his own inspiration (paṭibhāna). Now on that point we ask the Venerable Mahākassapa: Delightful, friend Kassapa, is the Gosiṅga sāla-tree wood; the night is moonlit and clear; the sāla trees are in full blossom all over; heavenly scents, one would think, are wafting about. By what kind of bhikkhu, friend Kassapa, would the Gosiṅga sāla-tree wood be graced?"
"Here, friend Sāriputta, a bhikkhu is himself a forest-dweller and speaks in praise of forest-dwelling; is himself an alms-food eater and speaks in praise of eating alms-food; is himself a rag-robe wearer and speaks in praise of wearing rag-robes; is himself a triple-robe wearer and speaks in praise of wearing the triple robe; is himself of few wishes and speaks in praise of fewness of wishes; is himself contented and speaks in praise of contentment; is himself secluded and speaks in praise of seclusion; is himself unentangled and speaks in praise of non-entanglement; is himself of aroused energy (vīriya) and speaks in praise of arousing energy; is himself accomplished in virtue (sīla) and speaks in praise of accomplishment in virtue; is himself accomplished in concentration (samādhi) and speaks in praise of accomplishment in concentration; is himself accomplished in wisdom (paññā) and speaks in praise of accomplishment in wisdom; is himself accomplished in liberation (vimutti) and speaks in praise of accomplishment in liberation; is himself accomplished in the knowledge (ñāṇa) and vision of liberation and speaks in praise of accomplishment in the knowledge and vision of liberation. By such a bhikkhu, friend Sāriputta, would the Gosiṅga sāla-tree wood be graced."
