"Friend, these five faculties (indriya) have different domains (visaya), different ranges (gocara), and do not experience one another's domain and range — namely, the eye faculty, the ear faculty, the nose faculty, the tongue faculty, and the body faculty. When these five faculties have different domains, different ranges, and do not experience one another's domain and range, what is their resort (paṭisaraṇa), and what experiences their domain and range?"
Sā. "Friend, these five faculties have different domains, different ranges, and do not experience one another's domain and range — namely, the eye faculty, the ear faculty, the nose faculty, the tongue faculty, and the body faculty. When these five faculties have different domains, different ranges, and do not experience one another's domain and range, mind (mano) is their resort, and mind experiences their domain and range."
