[83] Bhikkhus, if a bhikkhu should wish: "May I, with the destruction of three fetters and with the attenuation of lust (rāga), hatred, and delusion, become a once-returner (sakadāgāmī), who, having come back to this world only once, would make an end of suffering (dukkha)" — let him be one who fulfills the precepts, devoted to inner serenity of mind (citta), not neglecting meditative absorption (jhāna), endowed with insight (vipassanā), a cultivator of empty dwellings (suññāgāra).
