[94] Bhikkhus, that bhikkhu, having understood thus: "Covetousness and unrighteous greed (abhijjhāvisamalobha) is a corruption of the mind (upakkilesa)," abandons covetousness and unrighteous greed, the corruption of the mind (citta). Having understood thus: "Ill will (byāpāda) is a corruption of the mind," he abandons ill will, the corruption of the mind. Having understood thus: "Anger (kodha) is a corruption of the mind," he abandons anger, the corruption of the mind. Having understood thus: "Resentment (upanāha) is a corruption of the mind," he abandons resentment, the corruption of the mind. Having understood thus: "Denigration (makkha) is a corruption of the mind," he abandons denigration, the corruption of the mind. Having understood thus: "Insolence (paḷāsa) is a corruption of the mind," he abandons insolence, the corruption of the mind. Having understood thus: "Envy (issā) is a corruption of the mind," he abandons envy, the corruption of the mind.
