[372] "But Udāyī, what is held in your own teachers' doctrine?"
"Venerable sir, in our own teachers' doctrine it is held thus: 'This is the ultimate splendor (vaṇṇa), this is the ultimate splendor.'"
"But Udāyī, as to that which is held in your own teachers' doctrine thus: 'This is the ultimate splendor, this is the ultimate splendor' — what, then, is that ultimate splendor?"
"Venerable sir, that splendor than which there is no other splendor higher or more sublime — that is the ultimate splendor."
"But which, Udāyī, is that splendor than which there is no other splendor higher or more sublime?"
"Venerable sir, that splendor than which there is no other splendor higher or more sublime — that is the ultimate splendor."
