[410] Then, Ānanda, Ghaṭikāra the potter and Jotipāla the brahmin youth (māṇava) approached the Blessed One Kassapa, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One. Having approached, Ghaṭikāra the potter paid homage to the Blessed One Kassapa, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One, and sat down at one side. But Jotipāla the brahmin youth exchanged greetings with the Blessed One Kassapa, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One, and when the courteous and amiable talk was concluded, he sat down at one side. Seated at one side, Ghaṭikāra the potter said this to the Blessed One Kassapa, the Arahant, the Perfectly Enlightened One: "Venerable sir, this is Jotipāla the brahmin youth, my friend, my dear friend. May the Blessed One teach him the Dhamma."
