[426] Then Raṭṭhapāla, the clansman, rose from his seat, paid homage to the Blessed One, and, having circumambulated him keeping his right side towards him, went to his mother and father; having approached, he said to his mother and father: "Mother and father, as I understand the Dhamma taught by the Blessed One, it is not easy for one dwelling in a house to live the holy life absolutely perfect, absolutely pure, polished like a conch shell. I wish to shave off my hair and beard, put on the ochre robes, and go forth from home into homelessness. Allow me to go forth from home into homelessness."
