[473] "Great king, by this method too it may be understood that this is mere report in the world—'Only brahmins are the best caste; any other caste is inferior … heirs of Brahmā.' What do you think, great king? Suppose an aristocrat (khattiya) here were to abstain from killing living beings, abstain from taking what is not given, abstain from sexual misconduct, abstain from false speech, abstain from divisive speech, abstain from harsh speech, abstain from idle chatter, were not covetous, had a mind (citta) free of ill will, and held right view—on the breaking up of the body, after death, would he be reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world, or not? Or how do you see this matter?"
