[703] Then the Venerable Sāriputta approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the Venerable Sāriputta said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, the brahmin Dhanañjāni is afflicted, suffering, gravely ill. He pays homage with his head at the Blessed One's feet."
"But why, Sāriputta, when there was still something more to be done, did you establish the brahmin Dhanañjāni in the inferior Brahmā world (brahmaloka), and then rise from your seat and depart?"
"Venerable sir, it occurred to me thus: 'These brahmins are devoted to the Brahmā world. Suppose I were to teach the brahmin Dhanañjāni the path to companionship (sahabyatā) with the Brahmās.'"
"Sāriputta, the brahmin Dhanañjāni has died and has been reborn in the Brahmā world."
The Dhanañjāni Sutta, the seventh, is finished.
