[711] "Master Gotama, the brahmins say thus: 'The field of work (kammaṭṭhāna) of the household life, having great requirements, great duties, great issues, and great undertakings, is of great fruit; the field of work of the life gone forth, having few requirements, few duties, few issues, and few undertakings, is of little fruit.' What does Master Gotama say on this?"
"On this point too, student, I am one who speaks after analyzing (vibhajavāda); I am not one who speaks one-sidedly on this point. There is, student, a field of work having great requirements, great duties, great issues, and great undertakings which, when it fails, is of little fruit. There is, student, a field of work having great requirements, great duties, great issues, and great undertakings which, when it succeeds, is of great fruit. There is, student, a field of work having few requirements, few duties, few issues, and few undertakings which, when it fails, is of little fruit.
