[131] Then the Blessed One, having surveyed the utterly silent Saṅgha of bhikkhus, addressed the bhikkhus: "Bhikkhus, could an untrue person (asappurisa) know of an untrue person: 'This worthy one is an untrue person'?"
"No indeed, venerable sir."
"Good, bhikkhus! It is impossible, bhikkhus, there is no chance, that an untrue person could know of an untrue person: 'This worthy one is an untrue person.' But, bhikkhus, could an untrue person know of a true person (sappurisa): 'This worthy one is a true person'?"
"No indeed, venerable sir."
"Good, bhikkhus! This too, bhikkhus, is impossible, there is no chance, that an untrue person could know of a true person: 'This worthy one is a true person.'"
