[248] The Blessed One said this: "Bhikkhus, do you see that Mount Vebhāra?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Bhikkhus, that Mount Vebhāra formerly had a different name (samaññā), a different designation (paññatti). Bhikkhus, do you see that Mount Paṇḍava?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Bhikkhus, that Mount Paṇḍava too formerly had a different name, a different designation. Bhikkhus, do you see that Mount Vepulla?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Bhikkhus, that Mount Vepulla too formerly had a different name, a different designation. Bhikkhus, do you see that Mount Gijjhakūṭa?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Bhikkhus, that Mount Gijjhakūṭa too formerly had a different name, a different designation. Bhikkhus, do you see this Mount Isigili?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"But this Mount Isigili, bhikkhus, has had this very same name, this very same designation."
