[249] Bhikkhus, once in the past, five hundred Paccekabuddhas dwelt for a long time on this Mount Isigili. Entering this mountain, they were seen; but once they had entered, they were seen no more. Seeing this, people said: "This mountain swallows (gilati) these seers (isī)" — and so the designation "Isigili, Isigili" arose. Bhikkhus, I shall tell the names of the Paccekabuddhas; bhikkhus, I shall proclaim the names of the Paccekabuddhas; bhikkhus, I shall teach the names of the Paccekabuddhas. Listen to that and attend well; I shall speak.
"Yes, venerable sir," those bhikkhus replied to the Blessed One.
