[302] Furthermore, bhikkhus, just as if a bhikkhu were to see a corpse discarded in a charnel ground (sivathikā): bones, white, resembling the color of a conch shell … bones heaped up in a pile, more than a year old … bones rotted, crumbled to powder. He compares this very body with it thus: 'This body too is of such a nature, will come to be such, has not gone beyond this.' As he thus dwells diligent … Thus too, bhikkhus, a bhikkhu develops mindfulness directed to the body (kāyagatā sati).
