[314] "Bhikkhus, when anyone has developed and made much of mindfulness directed to the body (kāyagatā sati), then to whatever dhamma realizable by direct knowledge (abhiññā) he inclines his mind (citta) for realization by direct knowledge, he attains in each and every case the capacity of an eyewitness therein, there being a suitable basis (sati satiāyatane). Bhikkhus, just as if a water jar, full of water, level with the brim so that a crow could drink from it, were set upon a stand, and a strong man were to tip it — from whatever side he tipped it, would water come out?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Even so, bhikkhus, when anyone has developed and made much of mindfulness directed to the body, then to whatever dhamma realizable by direct knowledge he inclines his mind for realization by direct knowledge, he attains in each and every case the capacity of an eyewitness therein, there being a suitable basis."
