[315] "Bhikkhus, suppose there were a four-sided lotus pond on a level piece of ground, bounded by an embankment, full of water, brimming to the very edge so that a crow could drink from it. If a strong man were to breach the embankment on whatever side, would the water come forth?"
"Yes, venerable sir."
"Even so, bhikkhus, whoever has developed and cultivated mindfulness directed to the body (kāyagatā sati)—when he inclines his mind (citta) toward the realization by direct knowledge (abhiññā) of any dhamma realizable by direct knowledge, he attains the capacity to witness it in each and every case, there being a suitable basis."
