[440] Then a certain bhikkhu approached the Blessed One; having approached and paid homage to the Blessed One, he stood to one side. Standing to one side, that bhikkhu said this to the Blessed One: "Venerable sir, here in Kosambī the bhikkhus have taken to quarreling and brawling and are engaged in disputes, wounding one another with the weapons of the tongue. It would be good, venerable sir, if the Blessed One would approach those bhikkhus out of compassion." The Blessed One consented in silence. Then the Blessed One approached those bhikkhus; having approached, he said this to them: "Enough, bhikkhus! No quarreling, no brawling, no contention, no disputing!" When this was said, a certain bhikkhu said this to the Blessed One: "Wait, venerable sir! Let the Blessed One, the Lord of the Dhamma, dwell at ease, devoted to a pleasant abiding here and now. It is we who will be known for this quarreling, brawling, contention, and disputing."
