[476] Bhikkhus, there are animals (tiracchānagatā pāṇā) that feed on grass. They eat even fresh grasses, cropping them with their teeth. And which, bhikkhus, are the animals that feed on grass? Horses, cattle, donkeys, goats, deer, or whatever other animals there may be that feed on grass. That very fool, bhikkhus, who formerly here was a devourer of tastes (rasādo) and did evil deeds here, on the dissolution of the body, after death, is reborn in the companionship of those beings—those beings that feed on grass.
