[492] Bhikkhus, further, there appears to the wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti) the horse-treasure (assaratana): all white, with a head black as a crow's, with a mane like muñja grass, possessed of psychic power, moving through the air — a king of horses named Valāhaka. On seeing him, the mind (citta) of the wheel-turning monarch is gladdened: "An excellent horse-vehicle indeed, sirs, if he would submit to taming!" Then, bhikkhus, that horse-treasure submits to taming just as would a fine thoroughbred horse well tamed over a long time. Bhikkhus, it happened once that the wheel-turning monarch, testing that very horse-treasure, mounted him in the morning, traversed the whole earth bounded by the ocean, and, having returned to that same royal capital, took his morning meal. Bhikkhus, such is the horse-treasure that appears to the wheel-turning monarch.
