[503] Bhikkhus, suppose a gambler at dice, with the very first winning throw, were to win a great mass of wealth. Trifling, bhikkhus, is that winning throw whereby the gambler with the very first winning throw wins a great mass of wealth. Far greater than that is this winning throw: that the wise person, having conducted himself well in body, having conducted himself well in speech, having conducted himself well in mind, with the breaking up of the body, after death, is reborn in a good destination, a heavenly world.
Bhikkhus, this is the entire and complete plane of the wise person.
Thus spoke the Blessed One. Satisfied, those bhikkhus rejoiced in the Blessed One's words.
The Bālapaṇḍita Sutta, the ninth, is finished.
