[513] Bhikkhus, the wardens of hell, having laid that being down, hack him with axes. Bhikkhus, the wardens of hell, taking him feet up and head down, hack him with adzes. Bhikkhus, the wardens of hell, harnessing him to a chariot, drive him back and forth across ground that is burning, blazing, and glowing. Bhikkhus, the wardens of hell make him climb up and climb down a great mountain of coals, burning, blazing, and glowing. Bhikkhus, the wardens of hell, taking him feet up and head down, plunge him into a heated copper cauldron, burning, blazing, and glowing. There he is boiled amid a swirl of froth. And as he is being boiled there amid a swirl of froth, he is swept now upwards, now downwards, now sideways. There he feels feelings (vedanā) that are painful, racking, and piercing; yet he does not die so long as that evil deed is not exhausted.
