[548] Thus have I heard. At one time the Blessed One was dwelling at Rājagaha, in the Tapodārāma. Then the Venerable Samiddhi, having risen in the night toward dawn, went to the Tapoda hot springs to bathe his limbs. Having bathed his limbs in the Tapoda and come up out of the water, he stood in a single robe, drying his limbs. Then, when the night was far advanced, a certain deity of surpassing beauty, illuminating the entire Tapoda, approached the Venerable Samiddhi; having approached, it stood to one side.
