[562] "Friends, that summary recital which the Blessed One gave to us in brief, and, without expounding its meaning in detail, rose from his seat and entered his dwelling:
'One should not run back to the past …
It is such a one that the peaceful sage declares
to be one who has a single auspicious night (bhaddekaratta).'
Of this summary recital given in brief by the Blessed One, whose meaning he did not expound in detail, I understand the detailed meaning thus. But if you venerable ones wish, you may approach the Blessed One himself and question him about this matter; and as the Blessed One answers you, so should you remember it."
