[561] "And how, friends, is one not drawn away amid presently arisen dhammas? Friends, the eye and forms — both of these are presently arisen. If consciousness (viññāṇa) is not bound by desire and lust for that very present, then, because consciousness is not bound by desire and lust, one does not delight in that; not delighting in that, one is not drawn away amid presently arisen dhammas.
Friends, the ear and sounds … Friends, the nose and odours … Friends, the tongue and tastes … Friends, the body and tangibles … Friends, the mind and dhammas — both of these are presently arisen. If consciousness is not bound by desire and lust for that very present, then, because consciousness is not bound by desire and lust, one does not delight in that; not delighting in that, one is not drawn away amid presently arisen dhammas.
Thus indeed, friends, one is not drawn away amid presently arisen dhammas."
