[60] "And how, Ānanda, is there resolution through recollection (sativinaya)? Here, Ānanda, bhikkhus accuse a bhikkhu of a grave offense of such a kind — a pārājika or one bordering on a pārājika — saying: 'Does the venerable one recall having committed a grave offense of such a kind, a pārājika or one bordering on a pārājika?' He says thus: 'Friends, I do not recall having committed a grave offense of such a kind, a pārājika or one bordering on a pārājika.' To that bhikkhu, Ānanda, resolution through recollection should be granted. Thus, Ānanda, there is resolution through recollection. And thus there comes to be the settlement of certain disciplinary issues (adhikaraṇa) here, namely, by resolution through recollection."
