[600] Then, not long after the wanderer Potaliputta had departed, the Venerable Samiddhi approached the Venerable Ānanda; having approached, he exchanged greetings with the Venerable Ānanda, and when the courteous talk of friendly greeting was concluded, he sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the Venerable Samiddhi related to the Venerable Elder Ānanda the whole of the conversation he had had with the wanderer Potaliputta. When this was said, the Venerable Ānanda said to the Venerable Samiddhi: "Friend Samiddhi, there is here a subject of talk worth bringing (kathāpābhata) before the Blessed One for an audience. Come, friend Samiddhi, let us go to where the Blessed One is; having approached, let us relate this matter to the Blessed One. As the Blessed One answers us, so shall we bear it in mind." "So be it, friend," the Venerable Samiddhi replied to the Venerable Ānanda.
Then the Venerable Samiddhi and the Venerable Ānanda approached the Blessed One; having approached, they paid homage to the Blessed One and sat down to one side. Seated to one side, the Venerable Ānanda related to the Blessed One the whole of the conversation the Venerable Samiddhi had had with the wanderer Potaliputta.
