[601] When this was said, the Blessed One said to the Venerable Ānanda: "Ānanda, I do not recall even seeing (dassana) the wanderer Potaliputta — how then could there have been such a conversation? Yet, Ānanda, this futile man (moghapurisa) Samiddhi answered categorically a question of the wanderer Potaliputta that should have been answered after analyzing it."
When this was said, the Venerable Udāyī said to the Blessed One: "But perhaps, venerable sir, it was in reference to this that the Venerable Samiddhi spoke: 'Whatever is felt is included in suffering (dukkha).'"
