[62] "And how, Ānanda, is there acting according to what has been admitted (paṭiññātakaraṇa)? Here, Ānanda, a bhikkhu, whether accused or not accused, recalls an offense (āpatti), discloses it, and makes it plain. That bhikkhu, Ānanda, should approach a more senior bhikkhu, arrange his robe over one shoulder, pay homage at his feet, sit down on his heels, raise his joined palms, and say to him: 'Venerable sir, I have committed such-and-such an offense; I confess it.' The other says: 'Do you see it?' — 'I see it.' — 'Will you undertake restraint in the future?' — 'I shall undertake restraint.' Thus indeed, Ānanda, is there acting according to what has been admitted; and thus is there the settlement of certain disciplinary issues (adhikaraṇa) here, namely, by acting according to what has been admitted."
