[666] Bhikkhus, therein, that which is flattering and rebuking, and not the teaching of Dhamma — this is a state beset by suffering (dukkha), beset by harm, beset by despair, beset by fever; it is the wrong way of practice. Therefore this is a state beset by strife (saraṇo). Bhikkhus, therein, that which is neither flattering nor rebuking, but only the teaching of Dhamma — this is a state free from suffering, free from harm, free from despair, free from fever; it is the right way of practice. Therefore this is a state free from strife (araṇo).
